Project Winter Highlights

As we enter this New Year we are thankful as we look back and reflect on 2017. God has been so faithful and we have seen many come to know and trust Him. The New Hope congregation has been blessed with new people who are now committed to the life of the Church. We meet every Sunday at 1pm.

On Christmas Eve the church enjoyed a Christmas party. This was the finale of our Christmas series through December where we looked at the Christmas story and learned that Jesus is not just for Christmas. He didn’t stay a baby in a manger but grew into a man and gave His life and rose again to set us free! We are blessed with many children and families and it is a privilege to be part of their lives.

Our Bible study has been meeting fortnightly on a Wednesday evening. The study has been focusing on Christian Character.  We study the Bible in an informal, relaxed way and help and encourage each other to be the best we can for Jesus.  We are excited at how the group will take shape this year as we are challenged and equipped to serve Jesus together.

In September 2017 we started a parent and toddler group called ‘Little Lambs’ this is on every Thursday morning, It has been a great start with parents coming and making new friendships. Lots of toys have been kindly donated and the children enjoy playing together. We also have children visit from the local nursery most weeks! It has turned into lovely community focused morning. Already we have someone coming to New Hope who we reached through this group. We look forward to the group developing over the next few months.

Our weekly Youth Club has got off to a good start this year. We have a great group of teens that meet on Thursday nights. We play games, chat, chill out and always finish with a Jesus focused message.

Many of the young people come to church on Sundays and serve as part of the team. It is great to invest time and energy into their lives, as they are the future of the Church!
Our Messy Monday kids club had an exciting time on the run up to Christmas. We partnered with the children from Brunshaw Church to perform a Christmas production ‘Prickly Hay’ the children rehearsed each week through November and December. They worked so hard learning all the songs lines, costume changes and stage directions! It was amazing to watch the two groups of children come together and make new friends and have great fun! The children performed twice, once at Parkside and Brunshaw. It was fantastic and everything went really well! We hope this partnership continues as we plan ahead to do an Easter Production, an After School Club and Holiday Clubs.

Another project that in underway is the Parkside Community Garden. The land at the back of church has been transformed into a garden for the local community to do planting and maintain. This has been a dream and vision for many years and it’s great to see it all come together. We hope now that members of the community and local schools and groups will get involved. This is a great ay for the church to serve the community and hopefully relationships within the community will be strengthened and renewed.  Please do come and see the garden – it looks great!!!

The Burnley Pioneer Project Core Team meet every few weeks to plan, pray and look to the future of the project. We are open to all God will do and pray we continue to seek His will and lift His name higher.
If you would like to get involved please contact me to visit any of our activities. Or if you would like to stand with us in prayer here are a few prayer points below:

Please pray for...

Our volunteers that they will be full of joy as they serve each week.  

The Children and young people of Brunshaw and Parkside that they will know and experience the love of Jesus as they hear more about Him.  

That our school links will remain strong. 

The Parkside Community Garden will be a light in the community and many people will take pride in the garden. 

The Core Team, as they lead, plan and serve.  

Sustainability, both financially and with future staffing.
